Waverton Wealth Planning pledges support to the Global Ethical Finance Initiative’s Path to COP26.
While the festivals and fun normally found in Edinburgh have been postponed by the pandemic, there is one unique and worthwhile group that continues to operate, albeit remotely.
The Global Ethical Finance Initiative, or GEFI to its friends, has been busy gathering forces in preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties – COP26 – that takes places in Glasgow in November this year.
And here at Waverton, we are absolutely delighted to partner with them, lending our support and ideas to their “Path to COP26” campaign. It means a lot to us, as a smaller firm, to be at the table with some of the biggest companies in UK finance, representing our clients and other stakeholders.
GEFI is a Scottish-based not-for-profit enabling the positive power of global finance to deliver the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and build a better world. Its ethical finance roundtables and annual conference bring together leaders in ethical finance from around the world and raise Scotland’s profile as a centre of excellence in this area. The Path to COP campaign is committed to making finance work for COP26, and COP26 work for finance. This involves amplifying the pressing need for climate action by connecting financial organizations and accelerating practical efforts to make positive change.

We sincerely hope that great things can happen in Glasgow at this conference, after the city has been hibernating through lockdown for longer than any of us expected. The positive thinkers amongst us might say that November 2021 is Glasgow’s time to save the world!
